Government In New Zealand

Government In New Zealand

Today in power to the people hurumanu we learnt about the two differents types of government in New Zealand which were the Maori authority system and the British government system

In New Zealand there were two different government systems. There was a Maori authority syestem and a British government system.

The Maori authority system which was more of a free type of living with no courts, prisons etc. It was also all about Tapu and being responsible for your own land, family and more.

In contrast, the British governments system was Strict with it's laws which were organised to control and to not break the rules of society. Everyone was also innocent until proven guilty when they entered the court room.

This is important to mention because both systems were basically opposite of each other based on their laws but managed to form a treaty and come to a conclusion.
