Reflection Section

Today in wananga we did silent reading and I read a book called Our Explosive Earth, this book was more of an informational book. This is how earthquakes are made, as the tectonic plates that make up the earths crust grind past eachother, they generate enormus frictional stress, Instead of gliding past eachother smoothly the huge slabs of rock move in a series of sudden jerks and judders. Place that live on the plate boundries have a 95 percent chance of getting a earthquake more than a region that is not on the plates. In alaska 1964 a magnitude 9.2 hit and it demolished hundreds of building and the liquifaction rose up to 11m tall so it was basicallly a tsunami of liquifaction.1964 Alaska Earthquake - HISTORY

Drawing for tone, texture and porportion

 What is tone in drawing?
Tone in drawing refers to the relative lightness or darkness of a color, one color can hold multiple different tones even hundreds of different tones. When using a pastel the person using it may tend to use colored paper to support the pastel.

How have I used tone in my drawing?
Im not that good at shading but I pretend that the lighting was on the left side of the page so the shading was on the right side of the drawing, one thing i could include is some shadows.

Music Through Time

A spiritual is a type of religous song, they would sing in a place called praise houses, whilst singing these songs there may have been messages passed through in the lyrics. There is a popular song called "Roll Jordan Roll" that was in the film 12 years a slave. They sung this song to lift up the dead spirit of there friend. Spiritual song were also used as a song in protest or used to escape slavery. There was a man named Wallace Willis who wrote a lot of slavery songs such as "Steal away to jesus"  "Im a rollin" and " The angels are coming". Spirituals were also used in occasional weddings if it were allowed to, to give hope, churches, and to uplift the slaves. Harriet tubman used the song "Wade in the water" to communicate and tell the other slaves to go into the water so that the dogs couldnt smell their traill.

Atom Blog

Aim: To make a model atom
Method:
1. Choose an atom to male(one between Hydrogen and Neon)
2. Find out how many protons, neutrons, and electrons it has
3. Assign protons and neutrons to a particular colour bead
4. Get a ball of blue tac and stick the protons and neutrons to this to make your nucleas
5. Cut out the appropriate electron shells and draw on the electrons with vivid
6. Connect the nucleas and electron shells with a piece of string
7. Create a label to go above the model so people know what you have created

Results: The results turned out well and I was able to finish it before the bell went, I also had to double layer the tape because otherwise the nucleas would have fallen off and cracked on the ground.

Discussion: The element that I choose to do was called Lithium
Atomic+Mass Number= 3/7
Number of protons= 3, Neutrons=4 and Electrons= 3
The electrons arrangment went like 2 dots on the middle shell and 1 dot on the outer shell.
Although it is metal  it is soft enough to cut with a knife, it is also the lightest metal.

Conclussion: It turned out really well and is still hanging up on the wall withought falling off, I also learnt alot about atoms and about the periodic table.

Reading Blog Post

 11/02/21

Today in wananga we read an article about the rugby player could akira ioane, the brother of reiko ioane. Akira plays for the blues and is on the lineup for the all blacks, at some point and time akira got sick and tired of playing.  AKira said that his "life turned to shit" until his dad kick started his fight back and this is a good example to never give up on what you want to do especially if you are good at that thing. This article is about the power of failure.
