Muffin Reflections

On Tuesday each group made something for there stakeholder and my group made Blueberrie muffins, once we made the muffins we had to ask your stakeholder some questions and what they could improve on. Some of the questions that I asked my stake holder were, What can I add or take away from the recipe to make it better?  Personally I think that they could have been bigger and had something else in it to add some more flavor but my parents who were my stakeholder said they tasted good and that was it. The appearance looked pretty good on the top and turned a bit blue because we added the blueberries in at the wrong time. The texture on the inside were nice and fluffy and you could see whole blueberries inside of it. Some things that I would change for next time is to add more blueberries, add something crunchy in it like some sort of crumble. One thing that I have to remember is to not add the blueberries in before we add the flour.

Ingerdiants Budget:
Blueberry $7 500g
One Lemon 51 Cents
Milk $2.38
Sugar $2.70 Cents
Flour $2 1.5kg
Baking Powder $2.50 150g
One Egg 32 Cents

Heart Dissection

On Tuesday in Science we dissected a pigs heart to find out how the heart works. (not the actual photo) We wanted to learn how the heart works so that's why we dissected the heart. Some of the equipment we used was a scalpel, scissors and had to lay down news paper in case the blood came out. The left part of the heart is more thicker and larger than the right side and this is because it has to pump blood to the whole body were as the right side of the heart just has to pump deoxyenated blood and blood to the lungs which is right next to the heart. We started by cutting the the left side of the heart and then cut down the right side to open up the heart and look inside. In the end we actually got to see inside and see what is inside the heart.

Workshop 2: Linking Themes To The Impact Of Angles, Movement And Shots

Brainstorm:
Whats happening-
Other Wybie is standing on the stairs outside the other house. Other mother tells him to smile from the doorway, instead he frowns.
Other Wybie was making himself smaller -less of a target-head down, shoulders hunched. He also looks sad and vulnerable.

Angles/Shots:
Highe angle- makes Wybie look overpowered, weak & vulnerable.
POV- Other mother, makes herself seem stronger, bigger and more dominant.

Viewer:
Makes the viewer feel sorry for the other Wybie.

Director:
Foreshadowing/hinting at what is coming from the other mother.
Hinting that maybe the other mother isn't so wonderful.

Other Techniques:
Lighting- spotlight on Wybie- like he's on the spot
Dark around creates a creapy atmosphere

In the scene the other mother and the other wybie we see a high angle shot used to show the theme "Looks can be deicving". We see this when the other mother asks the other wybie to smile but instead he frowns and hunches his shoulders over. This makes the audience feel sorry for the other Wybie because he looks scared. The use of a high angle shot from the other mother mother adds to this feeling as it makes the other Wybie look weak and vulnerable. The director did this to forshadow the change of the other mother from creep to even more creepy. Coinciding with this is the use of lighting, a spotlight is on the other Wybie emphasising that he is under the focus of the other mother. This reminds us of earlier in the film where a low angle shot was used to make Wybie seem big and scary but he is really a nerd. This links to the scene because it also shows a momment when the look of a character was decieving.

Savouries

Last week in Home Economics we made some savourie pies. Although they work quite small and barely had any filling in them they still tasted really good. This was basically what they looked like except it wasn't as golden on the outside(Not the actual photo). There weren't any stuff ups while making but I wish there was a bit more filling inside of it. In the end they came out of the oven good and tasted amazing.

Workshop 1 Themes And Ideas

Theme and Ideas-
Continious idea/subject that links throughout the text.

Looks can be deceiving-
Don't judge a book by it's cover.
Don't judge by appearance.

Example 1: Character of wybie- when we first met him he seemed intimadating because of what he was wearing and the music but he was actually a bit of a nerd.
Shows theme because like other characters our first impressions are based on appearence, tone, visual techniques aren't always correct.
Important because it helps the audience understand with Coraline that just because something looks good doesn't mean it is. She should coose the real world over the other world.

Example 2: Character of the other mother- at the start she seems normal and friendly but by the end she becomes a soul devouring spider demon.
Shows theme because the other mother isn't what she appears to be at the start so we shouldn't judge by first impressions.
Important because Coraline realises that having something that looks perfect isn't always a good thing.

S-Statment: In Coraline, the theme "looks can be deceiving" is used effectively to engage the audience.
E-Evidence: For instance, the character of the "Other mother" shows us that looks can be deceiving because she starts off as a kind mother figure but gradually changes into a sould devouring demon.
X-eXplanation Audience: This makes us understand that we shouldnt judge a character based on first impressions as they can often be wrong.
X-eXplanation Director: This was done to help Coraline decide between the real world and the fake world. If the other mother was really perfect Coraline wouldn't choose the real mother.
X-eXplanation Another Technique: Combined with this is the use of color and lighting. The other mother first appears in a vibrantly bright room that make us feel warm and safe. However, by the end it had become dark and green which makes us feel intimedated.
Y-Your Link: This can be juxtaposed to the chracter of Wybie who we think at first is evil but is actually kind proving looks can be deceiving.
